Due to Covid-19, the OLOW office in Nepal is closed but our team is still working.
There is as of today one official case of a person infected with the virus in Nepal. We estimate the number of unreported cases to be much higher. Schools in Nepal have been closed since last Friday and citizens are encouraged to stay at home.
We are suspending all ongoing project activities until further notice. Our task is now to inform the families and children with whom we are working, about preventive measures to protect themselves and others from the virus. We are still available by phone for psycho-social support and advice. If there is a food shortage or the situation occurs that families run out of money to buy basic food items, we distribute food and support through financial aid to get through this difficult time. The lockdown makes work difficult, but we are trying our best to react especially when there is a specific need.
For anyone interested in the situation in Nepal, we recommend visiting the WHO website for more updates: https://www.who.int/nepal
Stay at home, stay healthy, stay helpful and friendly, and together we will overcome this global challenge.
