Dear friends and supporters,
a lot of new developments and interesting incidents took place in the last few days.
Two filmmakers from the U.S. and Germany got in touch with us, in order to produce a promotion video about our work with street children.
For one day we were accompanied by the camera while doing various activities with the street children. Afterwards we were interviewed about our work and the concept behind this. As soon as the video is cut, you will get a short but very good insight into our work with the street children in Thamel. The project, for which the two filmmakers are working is called, Conscious Action Network (www.canearth.com). It serves to support trusted non-governmental organizations with a short film about their work to provide this organization more credibility and more opportunities for fundraising. We are excited about the result and are looking forward to introduce you to the children and our work with a visual review.
In our last blog entry, we have already reported about Ramesh in some details.
He will be able to live with a Nepalese family from the next week on.
The move into the Nepali family has been delayed because of two reasons. Firstly, the lady of the Nepalese family was sick, but now she is on the road to recovery. Secondly, at the moment we need to get citizenship for Ramesh and therefore we have to arrange together with him a lot of formal papers.
The citizenship is necessary so that Ramesh can start work at a company that we have already visited with him. In order to get the needed papers for the citizenship, which includes for example a birth certificate, we will accompany Ramesh on his journey to his Uncles in Chitwan in the next week.
Another recent event is that another child Raju became sick. He is currently receiving medical treatment.
We will also begin the weekend with the staff recruitment for the assisted living community.
We are planning to find 20-30 potential candidates for the three jobs in the assisted living community. Every potential candidate has to participate in two different job interviews each with a different focus which include: education, training, motivation strategies etc. In the end we will choose five candidates for the 3 day trip. The search for the house has also already begun. However, we have not found the right house yet and therefore we will continue with searching and visiting houses in the next days.
If we can deal with all the tasks according to plan, we will be able to open the assisted living community in 2-3 weeks.
In regards to this, we would like to ask you again for regular donations, so that no financial strain shows up and so that we can set up the next assisted living community for more children after a time.
We wish you all the best!
warm regards,
Steffi & Leonie
